Aristotle, at the age of 49, moved outside the city of Athens where he rented space and set up an academy named Lyceum. It attracted great philosophy students and contributors to the school's curriculum. It’s also noted that Aristotle is assumed to have composed about 200 pieces of writing and where we get his most famous work.
“Knowing yourself is the beginning of all wisdom.” - Aristotle
Aristotle is known for his frameworks regarding mathematics, philosophy and science, art and ethics, history and logic, to name a few. He was also the first philosopher to discuss the notion of intuition. Prior to this, Hinduism has always regarded a deep sense of intuition associated with an enlightened human being.
Aristotle debated that the original inception of a thought must come from within by intuitive reasoning. He believed that our initial observations and ability to self-examine our awareness is “the originative source of scientific knowledge”.
It is from these intuitive thoughts that hold our truths to be unshakable by any variable in the outside world. For intuitive reasoning becomes the first principle that all remaining knowledge (practical wisdom, scientific knowledge, or philosophic wisdom) builds from.
He was also the first philosopher to discuss and term the word “Metaphysics” after he wrote a book on Physics studying existence through nature.
He was also the first philosopher to discuss and term the word “Metaphysics” after he wrote a book on Physics studying existence through nature.
He believed that intuition was the first faculty of knowledge and that science would help us to figure out the rest. And inherently, the first step in the scientific method is to question and observation, opening up a path to pose a hypothesis to measure.
“Intuition is the source of scientific knowledge.” - Aristotle
Why is this important today?
He relates that intuitive reason is more important and knowledgeable than science or any conclusion that comes from it.
Therefore, it’s important to understand the difference between your practical wisdom that you’ve finished learning and being able to detect the instinctive patterning that you do today.
By being in relationship with nature, both yours and the world, the more intuitively insightful you’ll become. You’ll know how to ask the right questions to bore deeper into solving problems you're experiencing.
Blending science and philosophy
“Think like a scientist” is a phrase heard around anything to do with innovation. And it’s a quick way to remind someone to ask questions through specific observations and tests to get the right answers.
It’s a good idea to take the scientist’s approach and apply it to all areas of your life. A fast way to reinvent yourself.
So, the first principle is the first step.
Cultivate your intuitive reasoning to guide you towards personal hypotheses to explore like a scientist.
Here are 5 steps to sharpen your intuitive reasoning abilities.
1. Know your focus and intention.
Set an intention to something specific or ask for guidance in getting there.
What do you want to know more about? Be open to the truths that come through and be honest with yourself on how you really feel. Be mindful about what is true for you and what is influencing you.
2. Get to know your intuitive tone.
These messages usually come in as a softer voice for small daily guidance. It varies with everyone, depending on how well you get to know this voice and the relationship you build. What does it sound like for you? Can you tell the difference between your intuitive voice and your ego voice?
3. Observe the signals and synchronicities
Notice what’s around you and what signs and signals are answering your questions. It could be anything around you that could give you an idea for your next step. There’s a lot of information we consume. When we’ve set intentions for something specific, we’re telling our minds to focus on collecting more of that specific information. Pay attention when you’re out in the wild. The world is reflecting back to you, are you listening?
4. Practical optimist actions
Now that you have some intuitive ideas, start looking at ways to move towards it. Or ways to be receptive in bringing it towards you. It’s also good to have a balanced awareness and see situations as they are and not as we wish. Being grateful for getting the intuitive guidance brings more of it.
5. Document the discoveries
Journaling is a foundational practice to add to your daily routine. Keep those little thoughts, notes, dreams and ideas in a dedicated place along your journey. Hold your key knowledge and truths to refer back to and ground yourself with. A place to put all the ways the universe is talking to you. I made an Intuitive Journal for you, that takes all of these principles and puts them in one place.
Mindful methods like these build an open and clear communication channel between you and your intuitive reasoning abilities. The more you listen and take action, the stronger it gets.
It may not always be easy, but by practicing intuitive reasoning skills with a gratitude mindset drastically shifts into abundance.
The energy of life is reflecting back to you, it’s up to you to train yourself to see it.
There is new wisdom inside of you waiting to come out. Once you actualize it into your life, things around you will prosper and bloom.
